VGT-1 (Amazon) Project

This was a hard bid project, and J & S Mechanical was awarded the job by Layton Construction. This building is a large 4 story Amazon packaging distribution facility, the upper 3 floors are dedicated to robotic machinery where the concrete floors could not have more than an 1/8” deflection. Project was a fast-track job going 24/7 to meet a demanding 9-month schedule. The building was completed on time. It was deep utility project with 800’ long sewer mains to reach the remote restrooms though-out the building. Do to the size and Fast track of the project a helicopter was used to hoist the 92 RTU’s and land on the roof of the building.

This Amazon distribution center was a large tilt-up project in Las Vegas, NV. This four-story building has a footprint of 857,060 sf, which is equivalent to fifteen football fields. This building has state-of-the-art technology and conveyor systems which reach throughout all four levels of the building.

Due to the size of the building, all eighty-two roof top units were hoisted by helicopter and flown to their location on the roof. With a tight site and the amount of material needed for this project the material was phased for deliveries to meet the schedule. This was a fast-track project involving BIM coordination with a successful completion date.
